Letter From Our President

Dear Friends,

Since its establishment in 1996, The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region has helped to enhance lives in our area. This past year your generosity has been instrumental in our giving more than $1.2 million in grants to local charities and scholarships to area students. Since our support comes solely form charitable donations, we are so glad you have joined us in our goal of improving and enriching the lives of people in our region. Thank you!

The Community Foundation now has assets greater than $24 million and we are pleased to have many new donors joining our work each year. With your support, we are helping to improve our region. Some highlights of our work this past year include:

Receiving gifts of $2,510,466, even during a struggling economy.
Awarding 74 student scholarships of $162,500.
Awarding grants of $1,097,411 to 75 organizations.
Building the Fund for Halifax County.
Convening a quarterly Funders Forum of area foundations.
Serving as the fiscal agent for National Fund for Workforce Solutions-Dan River Region Collaborative.
Continuing to sell bricks for the local Veterans Memorial.
