COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RECEIVES GIFT
IN HONOR OF RIPPE'S 100TH ANNIVERSARY

The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region has received a special gift in honor of Rippe's 100th anniversary. Ben Rippe, president, chose The Community Foundation to help him support numerous area charities as part of the business' tradition of philanthropy.

Seven area organizations are receiving grants from the gift. Rippe's Scholarships already established at Danville Community College, Averett University and Carlisle School will receive additions. Support also will be given to Boys and Girls Club of Danville, Hope Harbor, YMCA of Danville and the Boy Scouts of America/Blue Ridge Mountains Council.

Rippe's has a reputation for being a center for better women's apparel which attracts customers from throughout the region. The recent opening of Rippe's Shoes next door in downtown Danville continues their growth.

The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region is a public charity with total assets exceeding $15 million. Over 600 community foundations exist in the United States, with more than 20 in Virginia. Since its formation in 1996, The Community Foundation has granted nearly $5 million to area non-profit organizations and in scholarships to more than 190 students.
