The Stuart Harris Drama Scholarship was also transferred by the Danville Academic Boosters Club. The Harris scholarship was established years earlier in memory of the Danville native and will recognize top George Washington drama students.

The Foundation also announced the creation of the DPC Memorial Scholarship Fund. Existing scholarships not meeting the Foundation's minimum can be placed in this new Fund, as well as individual gifts. Individuals or organizations with scholarship funds totaling less than $25,000 should contact the Foundation office for more information.

"We are so pleased to announce these funds," said Robert Vaughan, chairman of THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE DAN RIVER REGION Board of Directors. "We will be able to make a difference in the lives of area students for years to come."

Others who wish to support the education of area youth can also donate to the Danville Academic Boosters Scholarship, the Stuart Harris Drama Scholarship or the DPC Memorial Scholarship Funds by sending a donation designated for the Fund to THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE DAN RIVER REGION .

Scholarship applications will be accepted again by the Foundation in early 2004. Interested applicants should check the web site www.cfdrr.org for more information at that time.
