For 30 years donors have been creating funds to support causes and organizations they care about. The recently created Carter – Bendall Fund is no different. Catherine Bendall created the fund to honor the memory of her family — Harvie and Clarice Carter, Richard Stevens Bendall, John Richard Bendall and James Temple Rice. The field of interest fund will annually award grants during The Foundation’s Competitive Grant Cycle to area charitable organizations that serve people in need.

Bendall graduated from George Washington High School. She received an associate of arts degree from Stratford College, a bachelor’s degree in education from UNC Chapel Hill and attended The University of Virginia where she studied graduate work on a master’s in education. She worked for the public school systems in Winston-Salem, NC and Danville. She is an active member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, The Wednesday Club, Garden Club of Danville and Bridge Club. Bendall was recognized for her dedication to serving the health of the Dan River Region for 18 years.
