Carl Sagan once said, “You have to know the past to understand the present.” The Caswell County Historical Association recently took this to heart, transferring the operation of the former Richmond-Miles Museum to the town of Yanceyville. At the same time, they created a fund at The Community Foundation to support what will now be known as the Yanceyville Caswell Museum of History.
The Yanceyville Caswell Museum of History Fund will annually award grants to the town of Yanceyville to support, maintain and preserve the museum.
The Yanceyville Caswell Museum of History, located at 15 Main Street, works to preserve, interpret, and share the rich history and heritage of Caswell County for generations to come. For more than four decades, the organization has served as the steward of one of the county’s most significant historical resources. The circa 1822 home is the birthplace of renowned North Carolina artist Maud Gatewood.
