This month, the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region received a bequest to create the Roy Mitchell Davis Fund. The fund will annually award grants to support the research and treatment of both diabetes and strokes.

Martinsville native Roy Mitchell “Cap” Davis enjoyed exploring new places. Over the course of his lifetime he lived in seven states – Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Nevada, California, Texas and Kansas. Davis spent a lot of time listening to music and playing various instruments including the guitar, trumpet and drums.

The Foundation is thankful for Roy Mitchell Davis and his interest in leaving a bequest that will support the health and wellbeing of others, including those in our community, for generations to come.
