On September 4, 1996, The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region was established by forward thinking and innovative community leaders. Over the years, thousands of contributions from generous local donors, as well as prudent financial management by our board of directors, means The Foundation now manages $98 million dollars.
Since The Foundation was established it has awarded grants and scholarships totaling more than $32 million. This grantmaking reflects the generosity of our community and the transformative power of philanthropy. Every dollar entrusted to The Foundation is invested to serve this region in perpetuity.
As part of our 30th anniversary celebration we want to remember those in our past who made the present possible. For this year’s Annual Appeal we are asking donors to honor someone who impacted your life by making a gift to the fund of your choice. Click the link below to learn about our funds and their area of impact. Perhaps the person you wish to honor treasured education or the arts or animals. We have funds that award grants to these focus areas and more.
If you wish to support pressing and changing needs in our community consider our Change Maker Community Fund. This undesignated fund offers grants to support areas of greatest need in our area. All donations without a designated fund will be applied to this fund.
By making a gift to honor a parent, sibling, friend, or pet, you will help propel The Foundation into the next 30 years of making an impact!
