An anonymous donor created the Cruising to a Better Future Scholarship Fund to provide post-secondary educational scholarships to graduates from Danville, Pittsylvania and Halifax counties as well as Caswell County, NC. We recently learned of the passing of one of our fund creators – Carol Eudailey Ellis. Carol and her husband Charles started a designated fund, the Charles G. and Carol Ellis Fund. Carol Eudailey Ellis, 84, formerly of Danville, VA died March 15, 2025, at Cape Canaveral Hospital, Merritt Island, FL.Born December 29, 1940, in Richmond, VA, to the late Carlton L. Eudailey and Ruth C. Eudailey. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles G. Ellis; son Shaun P. Ellis and wife Mary Lee; brother-in-law Steve Ellis and wife Debbie; nephews Steve Ellis, Jr.and partner, Lauren; Dan Ellis and wife, Maryanne; great nephews, James Ellis andNicholas Ellis; cousins Chris Eudailey, and wife Karen; and Monika Eudailey.After graduating from Petersburg High School, Carol received her degree in library science with a minor in English from James Madison University and later pursued master’s course work at Appalachian State University. She spent over 29 years as a librarian/media specialist for Danville Public Schools and was a library coordinator at Pittsylvania County Public Schools.Carol loved to travel, especially on River Cruises, visiting at least 20 European countries. She succeeded in entering or experiencing performances at every open or available concert hall. In addition travel, she had a love for roses and won three Blue Ribbons from The Garden Club of Virginia. See MoreSee Less
