Anonymous donor offers to match gifts made to Deputy Frankie Lynn Betterton Scholarship

An anonymous donor has generously offered to match every dollar given to the Deputy Frankie Lynn Betterton Scholarship! Please join us in this effort to help permanently endow Frankie’s scholarship at the minimum $25,000 level.

Yeatts, Sister of Deputy Frankie Lynn Betterton began the scholarship fund with The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region in memory of her brother, Frankie. Deputy Sheriff Frankie Lynn Betterton was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on May 17, 2002.Deputy Betterton had been employed with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office for three years.

Dorinda Yeatts said, “Thank you for your help in building this scholarship so we can honor Frankie’s legacy and help future law enforcement officers. We hope to receive donations of all sizes from many different people so this can grow to a sizable scholarship that will benefit generations of students to come!”
