Board member and friend Carroll Thackston passes away

The Community Foundation has lost a great friend with the passing of Ret. Major General Carroll Thackston of South Boston. Carroll served tirelessly on the Foundation Board for six years and was the founder of the Fund for Halifax County with The Community Foundation. He taught us all the meaning of dedication and also made us laugh. We will greatly miss Carroll and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Here is a nice article on Carroll Thackston’s many accomplishments. http://www.timesdispatch.com/obituaries/death-notices/maj-gen-carroll-thackston-dies-at/article_de5c80bc-41be-5a09-92e4-fa5cfd7ccce0.html
